Baselang Day 4

I think I am finally starting to find my rhythm with the language, discover a couple of teachers who I really like and feel comfortable pushing a little further than normal.

Lesson 15: 11am-12pm with Oriana
She is definitely one of my favorite teachers on Baselang. She had done a fantastic job explaining to me grammar concepts and showing me examples of it previously that I was sure she would be the right person to help me take the leap into learning subjunctive tenses. I was right.

The hour was long and filled with a lot of information but the daunting task of learning the subjunctive tenses, in the end, did not feel that daunting at all. There is a lot of information but the conjugations are simple. I definitely learned a lot in that short hour and I am so grateful for her.

Lesson 16: 12pm-12:30pm with Johanna
Another one of my favorites. I wanted to try out something new in our lesson and she was immediately on board. I told her I wanted to learn the meaning of the lyrics to my favorite song. I knew I could easily do this online but google translates each sentence directly and it no longer makes sense in English.

I was delighted to find out that she loved Sola by Luis Fonsi just as much as I did. She shared her screen with me and I translated the lyrics and she would either help me or correct me depending on what was necessary. It was certainly one of my most fun classes.

Lesson 17: 8:30pm-9:30pm with Maryann
This was quite a heavy lesson. I chose to take another lesson from the medicine elective that was about ares in the hospital. Some of it were quite easy because the names were very similar to that of in English and then there are those that are so different you would have no idea they meant something so simple.

I loved that at the end of the lesson, there were questions for me to answer, making sure that I absorbed what I had learned. I am actually quite impressed that I was able to answer all of the questions correctly because I was essentially learning medicine in Spanish and this is a huge deal to me.

Day 4 Conclusion:
I absolutely love this website. It is literally perfect and I am so glad it exists. As you can probably already tell, Oriana, Johana and Maryann are three of my favorite teachers on Baselang. I will continue to try and book lessons with them whenever possible for me. I love that every teacher on this site is ready to do whatever I ask of them and I can genuinely feel myself improving.
